Date: 7/31/12 11:49 AM I am shopping around for a new iron (I thought I needed one until I cleaned my old iron but a girl can buy a backup right?)! I’ve set on Reliable V100 because of the good reviews I’ve read and there are very few negative reviews! Everywhere I look, the lowest price is $139 (Amazon, AllBrands, SewTrue, etc). I know some folks were able to get it around $80 through JoAnns but seems like they caught on and coupons are no longer allowed on irons. Is $139 the best price I can get right now?
Thanks!

Date: 7/31/12 12:06 PM You can buy a manufacturer refurbished Reliable V100 for $75 plus $10 shipping on ebay. The seller accepts "Best Offers" so you might want to bid somewhat less and see whether he will take it. The iron includes a one-year factory warranty. ------ The essence of life is statistical improbability on a colossal scale.

Date: 7/31/12 12:58 PM I used a JA coupon on mine - I believe the end price was around $80. Even though it said the coupon wasn't good on irons, my order went through - it's worth a try! I bought online; I suspect the store would not honor it. ------ http://jillybejoyful.blogspot.com/

Date: 7/31/12 1:00 PM As for refurbished, I'm definitely a fan of buying refurbs! I would certainly check out that eBay offer, if the seller is reputable.

Date: 7/31/12 1:59 PM will just pipe in to say that I too bought online, from joann's, and even though I think the fine print said you can't use coupons on the purchase of an iron? the coupon code went through just fine.

the seller seemed reputable...lots of feedback and my offer was accepted immediately...I probably didn't go low enough, but it seemed fair to me, considering what's being asked elswhere.....so we shall see. ------ 2009-113.25 yds

Date: 7/31/12 2:14 PM JoAnn's is currently listing it as on sale for $131.99. That invalidates their coupons, since you can't use them on sale items...so you have to wait until it's off sale....At my local J's, expensive items and magazines seem to be permently on sale! ------ 2009-113.25 yds

Date: 7/31/12 5:06 PM Oh! Please let me know how you like the iron. I read through his reviews and he seems argumentative on neutral/negative feedback so I am a bit worried.
When I tried JoAnn's coupon 2 weeks ago, the iron wasn't on sale and both the 40% and 50% off coupon wouldn't apply. I might have to find the right coupon to work... |

Date: 7/31/12 6:37 PM Most of the reviews I looked at were good for fairly expensive items..He does have a note that he wants 100% positive reviews, but I've run across several vendors that say that lately and haven''t had problems.
I think you'll need a coupon good on notions or any item and have to wait for it to go back to $168 for it to work. That will bring it to this price or a little more. I used to be nervous about refurbished, but bought a machine that was and have had no problems with it at all. ------ 2009-113.25 yds
