I know that some people have turned slips into nightgowns, or slips into beach wear, or night gowns into "out on the town" wear.

so . . . I'm curious has anyone turned evening wear dresses into casual dresses, as in just changed the fabric choice to something more casual?

I am just curious. Would love to know as I have PLENTY of these dresses in my wishlist an all.

I haven't done the dressy to casual yet, but I do plan to. I have a pattern that looks fairly formal, with options for lace overlay. But I plan to make it in a retro print stretch cotton.

I'm sure it's been done lots of times. You could use a more casual fabric or omit fancy details. Unless its an extreme ball gown or bridal pattern, it would be perfectly fine. Do you have something specific in mind? You can get great feedback here with specific questions.
