Date: 8/2/12 11:24 PM So I joined The Quilt Show online (Alex Anderson and Ricky Tims). It was worth the $39.00! I got a gift cert for a class, and also got to watch the Sally Collins video. I'm telling you I learned so much from that video!!
She was so detailed in showing how she pieces, pins, and sews her quilt seams - even the difficult ones. I think the video is only available on the site till the end of Sept. It makes me want to buy the book and DVD to have it as permanent reference. This is exactly what I was looking for. Exact, precise directions!! ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE

Date: 8/3/12 8:45 AM I agree- that site is worth every penny. I love their shows and have paid to watch a few from before I joined. The price is reasonable for the teaching you get.
I particularly like the total variety of quilters they have on. Alex and Ricky are also great hosts. ------ Sewing: A creative mess is better than tidy idleness. ~Author Unknown

I'll have to read the site and see what I can learn. I am sure you will learn a lot and it will make things so much more fun for you. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

2 members like this. Date: 8/3/12 2:24 PM Things I liked about her are that she advocates sewing slow. She shows closeups of how she utilizes her awl, how she pins and uses those pins when it's all under the machine, and exactly how she places the fabric under the machine. She shows precisely how to press each block (and then let it cool *under pressure*) and measure afterward for total control. She really covered the hot spots of piecing.
The kind of quilts she makes, it's no wonder she has these techniques. But, imagine how much better my ho hum quilts can be if I follow at least some of these directions.
Her catch phrase seems to be *Just like that!* I totally enjoyed her! ------ Bernina 730E, 530, and 350PE
