Date: 8/4/12 11:33 PM This was so incredibly EASY! I found this CUTE panel on ebay, it's actually to make wall hangings, but I decided to applique them on cloud fabric instead. I only found one yard of clouds, so I had to squish the balloons on, but it still looks cute! My grandson LOVES it!
He wrapped himself up in it as soon as he saw it. Today it was on my sewing table pinned together waiting to be quilted, and he got SO EXCITED when he saw it. He said "Damma can I cud-dow it now?"
Ugggg how can I say no to that?? I may not be able to give this one away!
I used fleece (of course!) for the backing, but it's heavier fleece than I normally use. I didn't use batting because the 3 layers were way too stiff. I actually REALLY like the way it's coming along!
I used a zig-zag stitch to FMQ for the first time, and I am really happy with the results. If you zig zag sideways it fills in spaces awesome when they need to look shaded, like the inner brown lines in the balloons.
The one thing I do NOT like is that I used a gray thread for the bobbin, and with a straight stitch it is hidden, but for the zig zag it shows in some places. Now I know to make SURE the bobbin thread matches the fleece if I plan to use a zig zag stitch!
here is the top finished:

Date: 8/5/12 7:59 PM Of course you know you will have to find another pattern for Linus, as your grandson has decided this one is his. For the next one, do NOT let him see it, or all your quilts will be his. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

Date: 8/5/12 8:01 PM That is adorable. You did such a good job with your applique' that I thought at first the characters were printed with the cloud background.

Date: 8/6/12 10:44 PM Well I have decided that this one is definitely for Project Linus. My grandson has given it extra hugs and cuddles for the little baby that gets it.
The gray thread that shows in spots on the back makes me crazy, but overall the quilt is adorable and VERY very soft and cuddly.
One big plus about using the thicker fleece and no batting is that I didn't have to worry about large unquilted areas! I know I've said it so many times, but I do not like so much quilting it makes the quilt stiff.

getting some LOVES to pass on:

cute on the back too! HATE the gray thread! ugggg

Date: 8/6/12 10:59 PM Almost forgot! Here is the 2nd Project Linus quilt. I made the top today.
I got this panel from ebay too. The border fabric came from some store online, can't remember now, but it's 4 rows of the puppy/blocks print. Makes it SO EASY to put together a top! There are 2 smaller panel pieces still left over, I didn't like them at all with this one. It was a strange combo.
I LOVE this quit top! Even my daughter had to admit that although she's not a huge fan of dogs (yes I have forgiven her for that, but it took a L O N G time) this is one cute quilt! I am 90% sure I will use the blue fleece for the backing. I may use yellow micro fleece though.
me and my camera were NOT getting along today AT ALL, so I couldn't get a decent picture to save my life.

here is the album with both quilts:

Date: 8/9/12 10:56 AM Now this one speaks to me. Or should I say "Barks" to me. I love the colors, the fabric. Your mitered corners look nice.
