Date: 8/6/12 2:58 PM Hi Everyone - I'm in need of a little help. I have been working with Vogue Pants Filtting Pattern #1003. I've got it to a point of a pretty good fit. The pattern comes with a waistband which I do not want to use. I want to just make a facing for the waist. Here's my question, when I cut the facing do I need to cut on the straignt with the grain, across the fabric, on the bias or does it even matter?
The pattern shows the waistband to be cut on the straight of grain, but I don't know if that would apply for a facing.
Thanks for any help you can offer.

Date: 8/6/12 3:03 PM If you put fusible interfacing on the facings then it does not matter, however if you are not using an interfacing then I would go with the grain.
There has been many many times over the years when I have not had enough fabric so have created facings from whatever sections of leftover fabric I could manage to fit the patterns pieces on and have not had an issue with the finish garment. ------ Ada
