Lisa Eldridge

I love her work and got a few new ideas for my pushing age 60 own eye makeup!

Some great stuff there, Mary. I will watch more when DH doesn't have Olympics on 24/7.

Thank you!

I became a big believer in Lisa when I saw her acne video (you can view tons of videos from her site).

She works as a pro and often on celebrities. She's responsive to the public too though and that has endeared her to many.

One of my favorite products is a nude lip liner pencil she developed for No. 7 (you can buy it at Target). It lets me have just one lip pencil that works with all my colors (and you can't see the line - but it still helps my lipstick not to feather). It's such a simple brilliant idea - that's Lisa!

I have a clear lip liner from Avon. It is brilliant for ballroom competition where I need rather extreme makeup and it needs to stay on and look good for several hours. I also have some extended wear lip gloss (not really gloss, but comes in the tube with a wand) that stays on for hours. If it gets a bit dry I can put chapstick or clear gloss over it without needing a mirror.

We do need more makeup as we age, for example I need brow pencil now to make me not look angry, but not heavier, so I like Lisa's way of working. It is tempting to try to fill the creases (face spackle anyone? LOL) but less is more for those of us over 50, for sure.

Anyone like certain brands of the new BB creams?
I understand they are really the old tinted moisturizers
+ sunscreen? I use that for going out of the house, as
it's hard to find the right color/texture in foundations with too
many choices. Mainly I try to lose that winter pallor.

I can't find any liners or shadows, they all rub off with those hooded lids. Tried a new long-lasting lipstick and boy, are they drying, even if you add a chapstick on top. Maintenance of face, body, hair, mind is making me even more "mature......."

I wear less and less the older I get. Lots of makeup just doesn't look right.

Lipstick looks way too unnatural to me now (on myself). Lip glosses look too girly and ususally have sparkle in them, so they are not the solution. I've been trying lip balms with color in them, but the previous candidates didn't have enough color to make a difference. A couple of weeks ago I bought the Neutrogena moisturizing lip balm with color. Just right! Now I just hope they don't change their product soon.

I find now that moisturizer makes more difference than anything, but I usually top it with cream blush, lip balm, and a little fill-in on the brows. For really going-out makeup, I add some foundation. Still searching for the right foundation makeup for nearly-60 skin. I bought some tinted moisturizer, but it burns!

I wear lots less now as well. I started wearing the avon version of bareminerals and the blush copper glow which I love. I lost my original source for the avon and started using the bare minerals from a mall ulta store. I recently bought more of the avon from someone as I was not happy with the blush I got from the mall store. I like to just use moisturizer and after that soaks in,brush on the makeup powder and blush. I fill in the brows a teeny bit since my hair has a little coloring and that is it. If really doing extra I put on a teeny pop of eye shadow. I am very happy with my present routine and losing the liquid and heavy makeup.

On the lips I just use vaseline for moisture though I did like some of the avon moisturizing lip sticks that had soft color in gloss but everyday I don't bother. When I was lots younger we used to mix a drop or two of food coloring in vaseline and put it in a recycled little makeup container for lip gloss. I don't bother now with the red food coloring mixed in as my lips are a decent shade not too pale for which I am thankful.

This is a great link that I am going to spend time with. I like that she is using women like me. I would love to find a makeup consultant with even a bit of her knowledge.

I have been using Garnier B&B but it seems a bit heavy to me. I had a facial yesterday and the esthetician did not know what B&B was. I thought that was odd.

Alternatively, I also use Bare Minerals Prime Time under my BM foundation.

I remember that homemade V. recipe, plus melting down ends of old lipsticks for gloss before there were glosses!
Nivea makes some of the nice fat-tube tinted lips too, sold in the Chapstick section.

Mineral powders, how do they vary from traditional ones that caked in wrinkles or made you look pasty? I used to work for a vendor in drugstores and the 70+ ladies came in for those favorite old round flowered powder boxes, I think a lot of cornstarch? Of course, in makeup something is deemed "out" or "in" just as in apparel, to keep us buying and buying....
