I just went to look at some BB cream. This stuff seems pretty amazing -- I tried some on the other day, and it made my skin have an even, fresh glow, which is something foundation doesn't really do for me anymore. I was impressed.

I was actually thinking I might buy some. I asked the 19-20-something salesclerk about BB creams, and she said they just gave a kind of lift. I said something like, "That's great. That's all older really skin needs -- it gets duller as you get older, and just needs to get that glow back."

Her response... "Awww." The kind of "awww" people give you when they've just learned your parrot died or you were in a car accident. Or maybe it was even an "I don't think that's all your skin needs" kind of "awww." Anyway, it was definitely pity.

No, I did not buy any BB cream from her.

Don't know if I should be embarrassed asking this question, but what does BB stand for? The only thing that comes to mind is Bobbi Brown.

It's the latest trend

New on the skin-care front, a BB, or beauty balm, can act as primer, tinted moisturizer, anti-aging serum, pimple treatment, and sunscreen

Everybody makes their own versions of it, the Real Simple website has this web article on finding yours.

Errr, it's a pity she won't be getting return business from us older girls.
Did you want to smack her?

Beauty Balm.

They're amazing. Moisturizer, foundation, and sunblock all in one. They were created for use after chemical peels, but do wonders for any skin.

Asia has had them for years, but they just started taking off here. Sephora has them from at least half-a-dozen brands, and they're showing at the drugstore level too.

I've been using Boscia's for about a year and love it because it adjusts to your skin tone.

I remember being young and pitying the oldsters (anyone over 30). I also remember a friend of mine, and his 21year old GF; when she asked my age and I said "28", she responded with " Oh! That's old!". And to her, it was.

However...she's now in her 40's (and I smile and think to myself, "How're you feeling about 28 now, cow?".

Waste of time getting riled at the young; they're dumb...and their turn will come.

True. If you run into a similar situation with a sweet young thing, you can rub salt into a wound she doesn't even know she has yet by saying--in the sweetest tones ever--something like "Your turn will come."

Believe me, she will remember it--and she will remember it even before she hits 40.

I googled BB cream and found a whole range sold by the chain of cosmetic shops we have just about everywhere - its on my list now. I was going to ask in the old folks thread what everyone was doing about skin. It seems that nature gives up on it when the hormones fade. On the main subject, I went into a cosmetic store on my last trip to London. They had staff outside trying to get people to come in for a make over/facial; just got completely ignored, like I was invisible. Someone is missing out on a great commercial opportunity here.

I think it was Dr. Oz who just had these on his show. Major brands like Maybelline will copy, BB is supposed to be a step-up from the tinted moisturizers. Cosmetics Cop.com probably will review them soon, she discusses chemical ingredients in various products.
