Date: 8/10/12 9:26 PM I have been salivating over the Juki F600 for awhile, it would be my first time buying a brand new machine - I think they go for about 900 dollars. A lady on a yahoo group I belong to has a brand new, Quest Plus, I guess she is having buyers remorse, she brought it home and tried it out and never bonded with it. It comes with 15 feet, extension table, knee lift. price would be 650 with shipping. I need a decent buttonhole machine and I am intrigued by the QP's auto feed dogs. What would you do? Thanks in advance! Marilyn |

Date: 8/10/12 11:36 PM I saw that Quest Plus for sale, and I love mine so much, I was half tempted to buy it! Mine now lives at my mom's as her main machine and our sew-together machine.
I wrote a review of mine on PR. It's a truly fabulous machine; I can't recommend it highly enough. I paid twice the price you're considering and it was worth it.

Date: 8/11/12 9:25 AM Maia, it was because of your wonderful and informative review of the QP that I am even considering this machine over a new juki f600. I guess I am waffling over nits as I hear that the juki has multi width buttonholes, trying to look in the QP manual I found online to see if it does this too. |

Date: 8/11/12 12:54 PM I'm pretty sure the QP canNOT do that. I use the built-in dual feed for just about everything, but buttonholes aren't a big priority for me (other than that they should be EASY, even, and durable. Adjustable buttonhole bead width is a feature limited to the $$$ machines of other brands, so kudos to Juki for putting it on an affordable machine. The Juki has such a following that I'd consider it a safe bet. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |

Date: 8/11/12 1:28 PM I have a Quest, not a Quest Plus, so things may have improved...but I'd say that the buttonholes on my Quest are mediocre at best. -- Edited on 8/11/12 3:30 PM -- |

Date: 8/11/12 2:31 PM Thanks for all the responses, I have decided that I will not be happy without the Juki. I have read numerous posts from others on this site that advise you will regret not having the machine you really want if you keep settling. I have already made that mistake twice - you would think I would learn. I really appreciate everyone's input, thanks again! |

Date: 8/11/12 4:17 PM I don't know what the Quest machine is like but I do have the Juki F600 and in many years of sewing and changing machines I have never loved a machine like this one.
It is in a way difficult to explain but when you sew with it it has something different from other machines. I think it is the way the feed dogs work that makes it sew with ease.
It does have a "plastic" look but it has a fantastic piercing power on thick fabrics. To be honest I find the shiney plastic a positive thing because the fabric slides ontop of the machine better when sewing.
It doesn't eat thin fabrics at the start like my Pfaff used to do and it does sew knits without problems. |

I have both these machines.. and I swear that Juki casts a spell on its owners.. There just is no explanation otherwise for the way we all feel about it.
But that was a good price for the Quest. normally price is the motive for me to buy.. however for the bucks you spend on the Juki is comes loaded with features usually only available on machines much much higher in price.
This would be a tough call for me. but no matter what machine she is looking at.. if her heart wants the Juki.. nothing else matters.. She would be happy with the Quest.. but thrilled with the Juki.. cause its the one she really wants.. |

Date: 8/13/12 10:40 PM If you have not purchased this machine, can you give me the link to it. My cousin is DESPERATE for a BabyLock Quest Plus. She recently lost both of her sisters and needs to stay busy.

Date: 8/13/12 11:51 PM The Quest Plus was on SewItsForSale, a free yahoo group. I haven't seen a post that it sold, so maybe it's still available. ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |
