Date: 8/12/12 2:30 PM Im moving my sewing room from the musty, spidery basement up to the attic which will leave me with no workbenches. This morning I found a 4x6 drafting table and filing cabinet (for patterns) on craigslist for $25 each! I am so excited to finally have a proper workspace and to have to work in the dank dungeon anymore! Craigslist made my day. -- Edited on 8/12/12 2:32 PM -- |

Date: 8/12/12 4:01 PM Congratulations on your finds!
I have gotten some super stuff off of Craigslist that's also drafting related. Actually, it's the Spouse who keeps an eye on Craigslist and alerts me when he sees something he thinks I'll want.
My two favorites: A light table, 2' x 4', originally for viewing x-rays and such. Great tracing table for me. The other one was a set of flat files: total of 25 drawers capable of holding 36 x 48 sheets of paper. Yowsa!
We paid $100 for each item, a teeeeeeeny fraction of what they would have cost new. -- Edited on 8/12/12 4:01 PM -- ------ --Robyn

Subject: Whats our best Craigslist score? Date: 8/12/12 4:22 PM I got a closeout of about 1000 yards of fabric from a custom dressmaker's ex wife-for free. Silks, italian shirting; he was quite the high dollar guy.
Clothed me and the boy for several years. And it was nice stuff, far better then I can afford to buy today. |

Date: 8/12/12 6:28 PM I got a Singer "Rocketeer" for $100 that is in perfect condition. It came in a French Provincial cabinet that, when closed, makes a nice bedroom table. It will be perfect for my DGD when she is a little older. |

Date: 8/12/12 7:12 PM I just scored a fold down sewing cabinet with storage for $40.00. I also scored industrial sized cones of wooly nylon for .10 cents a piece. I got 26 colors different colors, 4 cones each. I'd say that's a "lifetime" supply.

Date: 8/12/12 10:06 PM Oh, I love this topic.
I have gotten a number of CL "scores", but I'd have to narrow the winners down to a tie.
1. 1954 Singer Featherweight in nearly perfect condition - with case also in nearly perfect condition, full set of accessories and the original blue manual. $75
2. 1949 Singer 201 in #40 cabinet with stool - complete with accessories and original manual - in excellent condition. Also included a buttonholer, electric scissors and lots of other goodies. $80
The runner up would be my 1980's Babylock serger including accessories and manual in excellent condition for $50. It isn't as glamorous and exciting as the other two finds, but every time I use it I think to myself, "This was the best $50 I ever spent!"
PS... I *heart* Craigslist! -- Edited on 8/12/12 10:08 PM -- ------ Margaret (Singer 201-2), Betty (Singer 15-91), Bud (Singer 503), Kathy (Singer 221), Liz (Singer 221 Centennial Edition)
