It's nice that it's adjustable from the screen, and nice that it's differential feed. But it's still a walking foot, meaning it's wide, thus trying to sew a 1/16, 1/8 or 1/4 inch seam is difficult to impossible. I do a ton of narrow seam sewing, so a walking foot just doesn't do it for me. For those who do wider or Big 4 standard 5/8" seams it may be the best thing since mercerized thread. ------ I heart Panzy, Pfaff Creative Performance, the sewing machine love of my life! I don't know if a lot of people are going to sit and play with getting the settings just right whenever they switch to a new combination of fabrics when they could just engage an idt type device or put on a standard walking foot. Of the new features on these machines, I am curious about the ultrasonic pen for embroidery placement though. But since I think you would already have a regular motor, a feed dog stepping motor, maybe a needle bar one? and both a y axis and Z axis motor for the hoop on the embroidery unit, not sure if that would be just one more possible motor to go sometime or not? Maybe depends on how much it costs, to even replace the bolt on waling foot with the motor in it?

I really like that they broke them up as an embroidery only or sewing only without leaving off features found on the combo machine. I know more than a few people who bought a top of the line combo machine and leave it set up just for embroidery, without using the sewing features, and have a separate machine for sewing only. Brother seems to have been paying attention to what people are doing and asking for. The prices I have seen on other posts seem to be a little steep though.

Date: 8/16/12 11:40 PM i forgot to add, I also prefer dual feed where I can choose amongst various feet to use, rather than being stuck with whatever sole the walking foot is attached to. In the video, the seam of leather to satin showed a lot of drag lines which the woman then covered with her hand. I would hate to have that thing in the way while I tried to sew. Is the adjustible part they're talking about like the differential feed type of thing the Bernina 8 series has?
