Bearskin Hat Pattern Need for reenactment

Is it for costuming (where you could just make a puffed hat with faux fur) or re-enactment (the authentic millinery route)? ------ mmmmm woooool

They're wicker indeed, with fitted hat band and chin strap which keeps it from falling backwards. There is a bear hat factory. There was an article in the army news I'll see if I can find it. The front is higher than the back and not perfectly rounded. They're not "that heavy" but consider this is from guys that lug 60lbs of ruck daily.
