Nice Hubby just wants to buy his wife a machine...

Dang. I wish I had a hubby that would tear into an issue like this! lol

Pay attention when he gets to how one guy at Bernina tells him how the pricing is not MSRP and continues on to share the real sales prices... but consumers can't do this... lol

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

I watched this on another site, and was infuriated. As we all know, shopping for a sewing machine can be as frustrating and as tough a test of wills as car shopping.
I was particularly amiused when one fo the Bernina people said the diference between UK pricing and US ricing was a difference in the UK machine, intimating lower quality perhaps? Which is B.S.
It also reminded me of the stupid remark a Brother rep made to me last week when I called to complain about my out of the box serger not working. She said "That machine was made for US use." like the air in Mexico would change it's operation.
We have huge buying power, and as a bloc could be very powerful.
Bernina, Brother and anyone else that presumes to charge us more, offer inferior products or just annoys us, will feel our wrath, we will tell everyone on PR and the other forum and blogs.

And yet he did buy her a Bernina anyway.. That's interesting.

We keep saying it, but sewing machine sales has to move itself into the real world. This system just doesn't work.

I used that video as a negotiating tool when buying my Bernina earlier this year. I am happy to say I got the price I wanted, in fact, several dealers were willing to sell it for the same price it would sell for in Europe.

It's probably what the wife wanted...

And you know how it goes... if mama ain't happy...

Look at it this way... the dude was so entrenched into this aspect of buying (and boy, I can relate!) ...

That he probably didn't have as much time to be shopping different brands based on their features, performance and price as he could have.

I ******HATED******* the process I just went through to buy a machine this month. And so much of what I dealt with in trying to get info on an Elna was parallel to what this guy dealt with on the Bernina front.

Just think of how many buyers these places lose because of these arrogant top secret pricing policies the companies have in place!

But then again....

Why sell 10 machines to make $2,000 when all you have to do is sit on your can and wait for the buyer with an unlimited budget who can plop down $4,000 on a machine that probably should be selling for $2,500. One sale instead of 10 for the same profit.

Bernina new 7 series available in the UK; 710 is $3000 Cdn. The 780E is $6200.

Beats the MSRP of $4599 and $10,999.

By a lot.

Bernina Sewing Shop

If they do free shipping...

Ok not free...but they do ship internationally. Interesting to know. Just in case.

If they do free shipping...

No kidding, right?

One of the shiny objects on my list is a machine with the BSR function.....

But the thought of a $5,000 machine just to do pretty FMQ pretty much blows my mind.

But I'll get over that little problem.

never mind, musta been a glitch on their website, price has been changed. Damn, I should have submitted my order for the $4,006 USD price it first gave me for the Bernina 780E.
