Snagged this quote from another thread:

"Wow no fair! I'm gone for just a couple of days and you guys have grown the family!

Great deals here at ASG conference for Janome and Elna lovers, but the Pfaff and Juki dealers arent offering any deals to make me come home with one. Janome 1200 is half price though, and an absolutely beautiful thing to behold.

Sigh... " -SouthernStitch

What's the chances of you scoring any information about this? Pricing promotional flyer, photo of something in the booth, etc???

I'll buy you dinner for two if you can materialize anything that shows this!

Seriously... the darn Elna dealer here in my area is even balking at the $100 rebate that *Elna gives* - aaaargh...

When I asked her about it a few days ago, she told me she just learned of it and needed to find out if she has to sell the machine at full price in order for the customer (me!) to be able to redeem the rebate!

I'm still going to pick up a second Lotus, methinks. So $100 rebate would be kinda nice. But not if she uses this as an excuse to up the price on me $100 back to MSRP.

Edit: Oh... I forgot to say that she told me that they are "supposed to sell at MSRP".

So I'd sure love to see this. No doubt Elna/Janome are supporting that exhibit in some way.

It's not a dealer, it's Janome reps that have a booth, and it's what I was told, no signs or anything. But they have a big booth. I wouldn't ask for anything in writing, no. They both had price lists at the Elna booth and the Janome booth, but we're not handing them out. I saw several Elna sales taking place. Juki wanted $999 for the tl2010 and that's Allbrands everyday price so I told them they would have to go lower than that and they wouldn't.

Well... I guess I gotta scope out this show for next year, eh?

So are they're like ***no*** Janome dealers in the Houston area?!?!?

Sure woulda been great if Janome and Elna would have exhibited at the Sewing Expo that was in Denver 5-6 weeks ago... lol.

Thanks for reporting in.

RipStitcher, I'm confused (don't understand) your message re "****no****Janome dealers in Houston area?!?!?" Are you asking if there are Janome dealers in Houston area? Sew 'n Vac on Hwy. 249 just north of FM 1960 is a Janome dealer. I purchased my Serger from them in January and they have opened a second store in The Woodlands. Forgive me if I have misunderstood your statement.

Right I didn't mean there are no dealers in Houston, but none at the ASG Convention. The actual Janome reps are here, as they are a sponsor, but not a dealer. Hope that clarifies.

Oh Rip, I wanted to add how extremely quiet and smooth this machine was when doing embroidery. Quieter than all the others. The vendor hall was noisy, but I could still hear the other brands. I couldnt hear this machine at all sitting right in front of it. The noise factor with embroidery machines is a huge turn off to me.

I was also impressed with the Elna haute machine too. It was also extremely quiet and smooth, and I loved the big square screen on it, and the way both it and the Janome had the robotic embroidery arms.
The Janome will do free arm embroidery which is way cool for baby stuff. My Bernina will do that but only with the small special hoop, unless I get the other attachment.

My comment about "no Houston dealers?" is about how it seems that the Janome / Elna reps are coming into that area and offering killer deals that the dealers are not supposed to offer!

Unless I'm missin' somethin' here... it sounds like a real screw job on the dealers there.

Yes it probably seems that way. But this isn't a public show. While anyone can attend the conference, it's primarily ASG members. You had to pay a lot more to attend if you weren't a member, and you had to have a badge to prove you paid for conference to get into the vendor hall. I thought I heard them say they will also be at the Int Quilt Show in Houston this year, they didn't say if the prices would be the same.
Being that they were a sponsor, and have been a long time sponsor and supporter of ASG has something to do with it perhaps. I know when the guy went to get the price, he was shocked too. But the other guy looked again and said yes, half price.
One of my friends bought a Janome 6600 for a good price. She said it was a special show price but didn't say what it was.
However, knowing how our local Janome dealer is, I couldn't buy a show machine and expect him to be anything other than a total jerk. Baby lock and all of them do this at shows. They give you a letter that your local dealer has to honor the warranty and all that, but if they are jerks, then it could get bad. My Janome dealer is so bad he deserves this actually!
