"New kids on the block
saying goodby to a friend
Rumor has it that two new Vikings will be available in early October. With the name of "Opal" they complete the "gem" series that consumers love. As Opals use all of the Viking accessories
they will be an immediate success.
Here at MSM we have enjoyed the Emerald # 183 and # 203 and we have parted as friends. Life is constantly changing so we look forward to meeting this sleek new family member"
Here is a pic --

It looks super cute -- no other info was sent. -- Edited on 8/19/12 3:56 PM -- ------ Drag queen quilter! |

Date: 8/19/12 6:04 PM My dealer just showed me pics of these this weekend. There are two Opal models. She said one was replacing the Emerald 183 and 203 and the other was replacing the Sapphire 835. If I remember right, the top Opal model MSRP is $1199, can't remember the lower model price. They are cool looking machines!
I also saw the pic of the new Ruby Plus that's coming out. It's basically the same as the current Ruby but with the thread portioning like on the Diamond. Cosmetically, it's a little different. The grey key pad above the needle will be red (like on the Tribute) and the grey "frame" around the touch screen will also be red. She told me that the price was going up on them also, but she didn't know yet what it will be.
Also, Viking's convention is in October.

Subject: A new Viking -- opal Date: 8/19/12 6:15 PM Ooooh I like the design and color. Viking was good about putting great graphics on their Sapphire line and this is so refreshing to look at! Love the color. I bet the Opals will be on the same level as Pfaff's Ambitions |

Subject: A new Viking -- opal Date: 8/19/12 7:05 PM Very attractive machine. I love Vikings. But I don't see a scissors button. Do you have to go up a few models? ------ Let's just say all modern sms are well represented in my studio. |

Date: 10/22/12 10:16 PM Hi everyone, I'm new to this site. I have a Viking Emerald 183 and it's about 2 years old, but I just saw the new Opal 650 and I LOVE it!!!! I am almost tempted to take the plunge. The new Opals are now at Mainely Sewing Machines. One sells for just under $1,000. I can't remember the price of the other one. P.S. Subject: A new Viking -- opal Date: 11/10/12 9:15 AM I was just wondering if anyone has the new Viking Opal? The one at JoAnn's is on sale for a little over $900. I'd like to take the plunge but if I trade in my Viking Emerald 183 I won't get much for it. |

Subject: A new Viking -- opal Date: 11/10/12 9:18 AM I love the Opal 670. It's just not a good time to be purchasing such an expensive machine. As everyone knows, money seems to be getting tighter and tighter. |
