OK, I am ready to buy a Brother Quattro 2. Everyone I talk to thinks I am absolutely insane to pay more than $200 for a sewing machine. 14 years ago I bought a #1+ for $3500 and loved it. I am used to TOL and do not want to compromise. How do you all deal with the public thinking you are crazy?

A) Do they have a hobby? Do they ever spend exorbitant amounts of money on it? Scrapbooking comes to my mind...

B) Why do you care what the public thinks? Especially the non-sewing public?

Enjoy your Quattro 2 :)

Everybody keeps saying you can buy a car for that! My DH has given the go ahead for the Quattro 2, now I just have to convince myself to spend some money on me for a change instead of the House or the kids.

I don't smoke (anymore anyway - smoke free now for 15 years!)
I drink inexpensive wines.
Car's paid for.
House is paid for.
Retired with the time to spend with my hobby.
I have disposable income for toys.
It's nobody's bidness what I paid for my machine(s). If they are so rude as to ask, I say I don't recall exactly.

Me Neither! Good point! Do you think that there is much difference between the Brother Quattro and the Ellisimo Gold? Babylock dealer here is trying to get MSRP for the Ellisimo Gold while the Brother dealer is more in line with what others have paid.

I just a got a tol sm after being without one for a few years. Oh I missed it. I love the features and wanted the embroidery option! I love to hear other people are like me! yeah. Just none in my area or family

Solution for me: do not reveal what you paid. They can never wrap their mind around it, so say whatever price they think sounds good. Don't you love how they still think about $200 is the most we can invest in a beloved hobby. Well it just old fashioned out dated sewing to them!

Out the door with lots of extra hoops and a 3 year service contract, classes and support......I paid $7,800. Go for it and join us lol.

Hey, my DDD turns on with a beautiful chime and beautiful computer screen and lighting that is beyond belief ( I can't believe the lighting, I can sew in dark room on this machine!).....isn't that worth it

RE Quattro vs Ellisimo: my experience has been in different areas the dealers are either sticking with MSRP on the Quattro or Ellisimo with no apparent reason the consumer would know.

I do not own a boat, nor do I collect wines. My spouse restores vintage sports cars. His hobby costs way more than mine.

I don't tell anyone how much I pay for my machines. I usually don't even tell non-sewers I've bought a new one. It's none of their business. I can afford it and it's my money.

If you want enabling validation, bring it here. We will have you thinking you need an $8000 machine in no time

Enjoy the Quattro machine! I don't think anyone should have to justify their hobby/$$ spent on a hobby if it makes you happy. If your hubby said yes, go for it. Only time my non sewing friends say anything about my sewing machine's is when they seen them all together in a room.
