Well most of them I've only worn a few times...I'm talking jackets. I don't know whether to divest the jackets of useful things buttons etc. and recycle or take to charity shop as is?

I audited my wardrobe and found I have a lot of 'spring' jackets that never get worn. And suit jackets that don't have matching skirt/trousers or just don't fit anymore. They are taking up room I need for my new creations.

Depending on the quality and brands, I'd consider consigning what you can for fabric money, donating 'workwear' to a "My Sister's Closet" -type organization.

Any clothing I want to get rid of that is still wearable (no worn spots, stains, stretched out etc) I donate to the local battered/homeless women's shelter) If the garment is no longer in good contition, then I harvest buttons, zippers, buckles etc and the rest goes into the rag bag or becomes squares for quilts or might hit the garbage can if its really bad.

If it's still wearable, I don't have the heart to wreck it by copping the buttons, etc.

About now, churches and civic organizations in the northern half of the planet should be starting clothing drives for winter. But if you have to get them out of the house RIGHT NOW (and sometimes I just must) -- thrift/charity stores!
