I live in Canada. At suppertime listening to the news I heard a report stating that the September issue of the Vogue fashion magazine which was just released was the biggest ever - supposedly weighing in at about 5 lbs.

After supper I went to the store, and there was the mag - I rarely buy it - perhaps once every 18 - 24 months. But I was intrigued and had to purchase it.

I must admit it has a lot of inspirational clothing in there to get one's sewing creative juices flowinig.

Also on the inside of the cover they have a fold out which includes the Nov 1949 Vogue cover picture, and another photo which is the duplicate of the very first Vogue magazine cover. Both are gorgeous for framing and putting up in one's sewing room.

I could not resist weighing the magazine when I got it home to see if it was really 5 lbs. My electronic kitchen food scale weighed it in at 4 lb 1.86 oz.

If you like occasionally spending money frivilously you might enjoy this September issue - has lots of inspiration in it for sewing a fall/winter wardrobe.

Oops sorry everyone, I just realized I put this post under the topic sewing machines, it should probably be under miscellaneous or something like that but I don't know how to move it there.

I'm just amazed that the weight of the magazine made the news....and it's weird that with the exact weight being the story, they were 20% off the mark in reporting it!

I don't consider 5 euros to be frivolous spending. I'll have to check it out!

I bought Vogue yesterday at the supermarket, it's 916 pages long, and I can barely lift it. When a magazine is stuffed with so many multipaged ads, it takes quite some time to page through it all. But if you buy only one fashion magazine this year, Vogue's September issue is definitely the one to have.
