2 members like this. Date: 8/24/12 9:38 PM I have a sewing room, where I keep all my sewing stuff ('natch), and a different room that houses my computer, a desktop. On the desktop I installed my Threads archive, and some embroidery software, and also stored some instructional dvds, such as some info about my serger. as it turns out, I never hike upstairs to turn on this desktop and use these things. I recently came across an HP Mini, for a very good price, bought it without a real plan about how I would use it, and realized afterwards that it would be perfect for my dedicated sewing room computer! So, this is my inaugural posting from it, where I hope to read reviews, study techniques, and look at Threads articles (when I am not sewing, lol)! ------ Viking Lily 545

Date: 8/25/12 8:38 AM You may have helped me solve a problem; I have the opposite--nothing in the sewing room upstairs and a desktop downstairs... Hmmm. ------ "We don't impose our rhythm on Nature. The key is to respect and live within Her." Jean-Charles Boisset, Winemaker

Date: 8/25/12 11:54 PM My iPad moves around the house with me and is almost always in the sewing room when I am in there. But it is usually playing podcasts, so when I need a PR break, I often carry the iPad into the kitchen where the laptop resides. It is only one room away and on the way to the dining room (aka the second sewing room) so not too far. I have been known to have iPad, laptop and iPhone all going at once. Remember Bill Gates or someone saying we would never need home computers? ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |

It was "or someone" ...
Although Thomas J Watson (CEO IBM 1874-1956) is well known for his alleged 1943 statement, "I think there is a world market for maybe five computers", there is scant evidence he made it.
Bill Gates also didn't say "640K of memory is enough for anyone".
However, Steve Jobs did say:
"We made the buttons on the screen look so good you'll want to lick them."
On Mac OS X's Aqua user interface, as quoted in Fortune magazine (4 January 2000)

Date: 8/27/12 5:56 PM I am using an old laptop in my sewing area as well, you know it is now used more than my destop in the office. I also find myself complaining the old lap top is too slow and I need a new laptop in the sewing area LOL |
