I would love some feed back on my first weeks projects. Last week I didn't know how to fill a bobbin, thread a machine, change the needle or sow a strait line. I'm still working on that one. I have learned so much in a week and I am excited about learning more everyday. I have a lot of free time on my hands so I have been sewing 4 to 5 hours a day. Try something new everyday. Like a kid in a candy store I can't get enough. This is a blast. I made 4 dresses for my granddaughters and I made a black jean skirt for myself. Please check them out and give me some pointers. Thank you and I want to thank all of you who have encouraged me so far. This site is awesome . The pictures can be found at my photo gallery http://www.friendsofpr.com/cgi-bin/showAlbum.pl?profileid=305566

You really have made such cute little dresses, those girls look so proud. It looks like you have learned a lot in such a short time. Congratulations!
So, what do you have planned next?

PS, instructions on how to embed pictures in posts is in the help tab at the top of the page.

Your little dresses are lovely and so are your granddaughters!Good luck and keep sewing. It *IS* fun and productive! The dress with the squares looks like you might take up quilting now any day as well! Welcome to PR and to sewing.

Thanks I an going to try attacking a pattern this next week. Everything I have done so far was without a pattern. Also the dress I picked out has buttons in the back so that will be a new adventure.

That dress started out to be a lap quilt but my first row was off and I used to small a stitch to get out with my seam ripper. So I decided to turn it into a dress. You called that one right. My youngest grand daughter was wearing my last dress. I made rhe fabric flowers at the top and that was my first attempt at a ruffle. I am realy excited my wife is a great teacher. She shows me how to do it and then makes me do it all by myself. Show and tell and put it into practice.

Those dresses are adorable! And your GD's look so happy in them. To think you just joined and got started right away. It's addicting, isn't it?

Thanks. I love this site everyone has been sew encouraging. I might have to turn the man skirt into a man purse. I have to use a wheel chair for a while and there is no way to carry things and wheel yourself at the same time. In my small rural area there is no way to start a new " man skirt" fashion trend. Maybe it's just I would be to chicken to be the one. Lol

It's hard to see the dresses because those girls are so adorable!!

You are doing an amazing job for having sewn such a short time. I hope you keep at it!
