I am new to emroidery and want to purchase a program. I have looked at several and am really interested in the Embrilliance program, also considering Embird.
I would really appreciated any feed back!

What do you want to do with the program? Organize downloaded designs, resize designs, create lettering or make your own designs. The machine you have also makes a difference, not all programs play equally nice with the different formats of embroidery designs.

I have an article called Embroidery Software Buying Guide on my blog here: Screaming Mimi's Sewing Room

Might be of some help in navigating your way through all the options.

I have a BL Ellisimo Gold (love it!!) At this point, since I am so new to embroidery, I do not want to digitize. I want to be able to add new designs, organize, resize, monogram and the program to be user friendly.
I have read the posts here, but not alot of response from anyone actually working with Embrilliance (really interested in that one).

Thanks Screaming Mimi, that article was very helpful. I think I will start with the Embrilliance Thumbnailer to organize designs, play with that and my machine for awhile before buying anything else.

I find Embrilliance to be a great bargain for embroidery software. (I also have a babylock Ellisimo!) I purchased Embrilliance Essentials to use on my MacBook Pro and recently downloaded it again, (using same serial number), for my new windows HP laptop. You can put it on multiple computers of your own, whether Mac or PC. I find it very intuitive and simple to use. I've combined designs, shrunk & enlarged designs, added lettering to designs, monogrammed, etc. with it. The developer is the same as for Baby Lock's Designer Gallery products, which are much more expensive. Although I haven't purchased DG Embroidery Works, I've seen it used at my dealer's shop and it looks very much like Embrilliance, although it's $500 while Embrilliance is only $149. You can purchase it through sewforless.com for $139 right now. Thumbnailer is $39 through that site, or you can purchase both items together for $169. There is also an additional font pack that I purchased for $75, but you can wait on that b/c the program comes with a set of ~12 built-in fonts.

There is an Embrilliance forum at embrilliance.com. Also videos and other information there. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

BTW... I have Studio Plus by Designer's Gallery (DG) and recently purchased Palette version 8 (b/c Palette 9 came with the multi-needle I recently bought and need to learn to operate!). I'm still primarily using Embrilliance b/c it's just so easy. Jeanie

If you have no other software, instead of paying $40 for Thumbnailer, get Essentials for a better deal. You will have editing, conversion, fonts in addition to viewing, sorting, etc. - Essentials, $129.00

I have a Bernina, am a Mac user, and have Embird. I run it on Virtual Box with Windows XP. I chose it because of the following:
1. it is for professionals, so it has more options and is more "tried"
2. You can start with a very basic package and add modules as you/want need them.
3. The are excellent and extensive tutorials available from Carolyn Keber.

I am a professional seamstress, and got into embroidery to expand what I can offer to brides for custom work.

If I only embroidered existing designs, I would seriously consider Floriani's software. They seem to have done the best job of taking the guess work out of modifying designs for different fabrics. Really impressive.
