Date: 8/27/12 11:43 AM Good Morning!!
I hope it is sunny where ever you all are.....
It is FOGGY here!!!!
I was going through my tea towels for my kitchen and realized that they are old/falling apart. So, I went scouting out different stores for these handing things, when I realize that the quality of them blow. Way too thin.
So, I go on line to find out what material tea towels are made out of. The few websites I visited stated linen, medium to heavy weight. I like linen; but, for the price that it is (Cheapest $9.00/yard). No way am I spending that much to convert it to a towel!! That is highway robbery!!
Does anyone have any ideas on what type of fabric is a good substitute for Linen? Or has anyone made their own tea towels and can recommend the fabric they used?
Thank you for all your ideas!!!

Date: 8/27/12 12:15 PM I LOVE floursack cotton: it's got a "juicy" hand -- kinda like a diaper -- good absorbency.
I bought yardage on eBay, but you can also buy the tea towels. I don't see how you can beat this AMAZON DEAL: 30" x 30" square, $2 each, free shipping!
Now that you woke me up, I think I'm going to buy some! Thanks!

1 member likes this. Date: 8/27/12 12:46 PM I bought those flour sack towels from Amazon last year. They are very good if you don't mind the wrinkles.

Date: 8/27/12 11:46 PM I love Huck Toweling - fun to embroider - and look lovely in the kitchen. Costs less than $5 per towel. Here are some recents:

Date: 8/28/12 2:32 AM Wal-Mart has 'em. I bought several sets to learn to embroidery on. Same thing amazon sells for floursack, but I got 10 towels for $10. |

Date: 8/28/12 6:54 PM If $9.00 a yard is too much, this might not be of any interest.
BUT....
Waechter's carries linen toweling. You would have to cut to length and hem.
