I'm still trying to stay away from getting involved in embroidery... for just a little while longer. lol

So in the meantime, I'm thinkin' I might just have to go pick up a serger.

What do you own?

Better question yet, which one would you buy if you could get what you want today? Why?

I have a Babylock Imagine and love it. I can change thread on it in around 5 minutes. I had the opportunity to test it out at a sewing expo. I have not used any other serger to know how it compares.

I'd buy another Babylock Enlighten.

Elna 745. My dealer just was too busy with the old women and feet to make the sale that day.

Babylock Evolution. I traded in my Juki and never looked back. The air threading and auto tensions work perfectly every time. I'm in LOVE!!!

I had a White. It worked ok but was a total pain to thread and clean, so I gave it away to my sister. She was thrilled...works with more knits than I do, I suspect.

I really like my Brother 1034D (great intro serger with a great price tag), but if I had unlimited funds, I'd prolly get one of the Babylocks.

The Babylock Enlighten! I'm sooo happy with my new Babylocks. The Evolution looks like a great machine as well.

There are many who testify that Babylock sergers are the cat's meow. And that may be the case, but the demo I had did not impress me... because of that I made the decission to get a serger that had to be threaded the old fashion way. I have never looked back. Give yourself the option of looking at several brands. If I could make a short list based on the popularity of machines recommended at PR then defintately look at Juki because they are solidly made, powerful, quiet and make beautiful stitches and easy to thread. Babylock because of jet air threading, Brother for affordability and Janome or Elna because they are proven workhorses. Think about whether you want a 4 or 5 thread machine. And if you want built in coverhem or a separate coverhem machine like the Janome 1000cpx.
