Wow! At long last I have a completely flush sewing surface!
What a difference. I never could deal with the table that came with my machine, it just didn't seem like it was totally stable and it seemed flimsy and it didn't seem right that it stuck up in the air.
The inserts are custom-made to fit both the cabinet model and the exact model of the machine. Fit is perfect.

Date: 8/28/12 12:33 PM These are great products (insert).
I have never owned this brand, just had an inexpensive insert that I bought at the SM dealer long ago for my then Bernina.
I has been altered for yet another Bernina and now is collecting dust.
My husband cut out the top of the desk style sewing machine cabinet that came with my Singer Golden Touch 'N Sew, circa 1967 for the insert and Bernina #1.
Then because this insert is much thinner than the Sew Steady plexi, he was able to trim out the opening for Bernina #2.
No longer need the insert as my current primary SM is an Elna 7200 that came with a table....more cutting on the old desk and viola! Once again, I have a large flat sewing surface.
Enjoy your new sewing table..... |

Date: 8/28/12 1:48 PM For me it was really necessary to have that flat surface to sew on. I feel I can control my fabric so much more easily and with more stability.
I have yet to use my embroidery arm for the first time. I did take the mastery classes with the dealer's machine but haven't got up the courage (or the right starter project) to get going on it with mine.
One of these days I'll be inspired to start. I just need something simple that won't take forever to figure out.
