I have an aurora 440 qe but didn't buy the optional embroidery unit. I'm now wondering whether to purchase it to wait and continue saving for maybe the 580? Does anyone have any experience/advice as to which would be the better option. Many thanks

I have a 440QEE, and the embroidery works nicely. I don't have a 580--I have a 830, but the biggest differences I can think about are these.

1. You MUST be hooked up to a computer to embroider with the 440. Is this a big deal to you? I have a laptop available so it isn't a big deal, but I still prefer using a usb stick to load designs so I don't have to have a computer in range.

2. The lighting on the 580 is better.

I ADORE my 440. And adding the embroidery until is not very expensive in comparison to purchasing a 580, but it really depends on your preferences. I think both can give you great results.

Sewing machines make me happy. I like sewing with them, cleaning them, petting them, gazing longingly at them.

Thanks for the info - I do have a laptop so that wouldn't be a problem. Good to know your pleased with the 440's embroidery unit work.
