So here it comes! Winds are starting up already, though we don't have any rain yet. We'll be on the eastern side of this baby, so that's never good.
At least this time we have a generator, and hopefully the gas for it will last.
I won't have to come to work tomorrow. It's so slow moving is the biggest problem of all. We could have a few days of really bad rain and flooding.

MIL has a friend staying with her. I'm grateful for that.

One good thing is that NOLA is actually really prepared for this one. They've done a lot of work to make sure water can pump out now, (one pump alone can pump out over 150,000 gallons a second) and that the levees are strong, etc. Still, it'll be lots and lots of water, so this will be a test.

We had the outer bands for the last 4 days (Friday - Monday), the sun is finally out today. It's going to dump a lot of rain for sure, wish you the best.

So glad your daughter is already on the recovery side of her surgery!

Too late for this one, but when water became scarce here in the past I filled Food Saver bags with water and put those in the freezer for double duty.

Look forward to your posts now and after the storm passes.

UGH, I hate this! I am hoping you are safe and that everything works as it should to keep from flooding.

Thanks all,
Yeah, actually NOLA will probably fare better than us with the flooding this time. But the mayor there did ask for voluntary evacuation for areas not protected by the levee. Funny, I'd have thought they would have done it mandatory. When Gustav came, they evacuated big time, and then we got the brunt of that storm.

Thank goodness safety is a much bigger concern now days. I can remember when the bridge over the Mississippi froze one year right after I started working here, and a different supervisor than my own came and told me to go on home before they closed it. The next day my own supervisor got really angry about it. So the next ime it happened he told me I couldn't leave or I'd be fired! I stayed, and sat outside in 18 degree weather in the dark for 3 hours waiting on a ferry boat. I couldn't run the car in fear of running out of gas.

My then husband called him the next morning and told him that if he ever endangered my safety again in such a manner, he'd need a lawyer. The next time (years later) he came and told me to go home! This only happened once every few years and he acted like it was such an awful thing for me to leave 3 hours early!!! Jerk.

Keeping everyone in it's path in my prayers. Hopefully won't be bad. I hate these storms.

Prayers for you, Mary, after Allison I think the slow-moving weak storms that bring flooding are scarier than the wind.

Stay safe!
