Date: 8/31/12 3:09 PM I need help. My laptop with windows 7 is not going to any websites but patternreview...I have gmail, and cannot even get that to move...so I can't retrieve email or get any response at amazon, or youtube, or even google..Is there some way I should look into this without having to call PC techies for help? IE should I be able to look this problem up myself, or are other non techies troubled with this problem? When I get my email up at gmail, it says website is not responding. I get same message on screen when I go to all websites except patternreview. Grateful for your techie input.

Date: 8/31/12 3:40 PM My first thought is that you've lost your internet connection but what puzzles me is you can get to PR.
I'm going to assume that since it's a laptop you're wireless? Go into settings, then network connections and make sure you're connected to your network. If not reconnect and see if that works. If that doesn' work try the next suggestion.
Are you working with a modem and router? Unplug your modem for 30 seconds plug it back in and wait for all the lights to come back on. Do the same for the router. That resets them. Then try to connect to the internet again.

Date: 8/31/12 3:43 PM I wonder if what you are seeing is actually a cached image of PR, not the live site. If that were to be the case, then you probably have lost your internet connection. Can you click on links and do they open? Look at the message board, the most recent postings; does the time look like it's correct? ------ Viking Lily 545

Date: 9/1/12 0:05 AM Yes, I guess I am working with with a modem and router(are they both black rectangular "boxes") I never disconnect it and take it anywhere(DH would hyperventilate). I am always successful getting on the internet with internet explorer. Thats the limit of my knowledge, tho I do have a manual. |

Date: 9/1/12 0:43 AM Jocelyn - have you rebooted your computer? That is the first question my DH (who is in the biz) asks me to do. "Have you tried turning it off and turning it back on again?" LOL to all of those who know the "IT Crowd". ------ http://bgballroom.wordpress.com to follow the progress on my next ballgown. |
