Having a lot of trouble with my designer diamond embroidery. Thinking about getting a Babylock ellisimo. Anyone got any thoughts on this switch? How does the ellisimo compare to the diamond? Thanks for input!!!

I bought the Ruby but couldn't get on with it it seemed fiddly to use and picky on threads o I sold it and bought another Brother 4,000 as I had one for 5 yerars without any problems.
The Brother does all I need I would say the Ruby would do a lot more but the Brother is easy to use not picky and I like the screen

Thanks for your input! Have enjoyed the Viking diamond but for some months have begun to have trouble with the embroidery. Would still like to hear fm someone who may have had a Viking diamond and may hv traded for a Babylock Ellisimo.

I am deleting my post because it is contrary to what I have heard from anyone else. Even though I was in a huge room with 20 machines set up I do not think my experience was the norm. The MSRP is high but the ability for the dealers to come down makes the machine a very good value...but just test the machine first. I DO know that it is nowhere near as difficult to fix as some of the other brands if something goes wonky on it which is a VERY good thing!!!!! I am going to revert to all the excellent reviews and comments on this machine vs. the poor reviews of the Viking...you need to pour through all the reviews and discussions from those that own each machine. It seems all machine companies take a bit to get "issues" resolved and maybe the Diamond is just getting the "bugs" worked out? I certainly love my old Designer 1. Best wishes for a happy ending...and happy sewing!!!!

I haven't heard the list price for the Ellisimo being that much, but I could be wrong. That may have been back when it debuted, but now I see it "listed" for about $9k. Regardless, I haven't heard anyone even paying close to that. The Ellisimo Gold can be had anywhere between $6000-$7000 making it a terrific deal. I got mine for $6800 and that included the inspirational guide. Do a search on these boards and that is what people are paying for one now.

I haven't talked to anyone that doesn't like their Ellisimo and I've never heard anyone complain about the stitch quality. On the contrary, I've heard the opposite. The one thing people do love IS the sitch quality. I've never seen such even stitches and tension on a computerized model and I've owned several. The quality overall is great as well. And you really can't beat that built in camera......It's come in handy more than I ever thought it would. My dealer has sold many Ellisimo's since they debuted and he has never had one returned nor has he had any complaints. He has one in stock at each store at all times so customers never have to wait for one.

If it were me, I'd upgrade to the Ellisimo. I have tried the Viking Designer and thought it was a very nice machine and sewed very well. But I really can't comment on it since I haven't owned it or sewed on it for any length of time.

I have a Diamond & a Brother Quattro which is the same as the Ellissimo and while I've liked my Diamond if I had to choose it would be the Brother or Ellissimo hands down. Stitch quality, embroidery quality, ease of use and more make it a fabulous machine. That said, the dealer is the most important factor.

Thanks for your input. I've had this designer for 4-5 yrs and have had some problems with it but this week while trying to do "in-the-hoop" projects it just shut off right in the middle of the design! I hv a Babylock Symphony and love that so was thinking I may investigate the Ellisimo. Really hv enjoyed this website and appreciate willingness to share your comments.

I changed my Viking SE and DD to a Janome 12000. I love the dealer support and the machine is such a dream to stitch on. Best thing I ever did.
