Always a fabulous show. Great way to showcase their bags and luggage as well.
I'm not sure of the sillhouette, with long skirt over cropped pant, and I dislike the current platform block toe shoe trend.
The fabrics are gorgeous. |

Date: 9/1/12 1:26 AM Sure, and I do like those hats now.
Did not so much before. When I first saw them, in the first part of the add campaign for the fall line, they for sure caught my attention and I thought they were the most ugly hats I had ever seen. And of course on top of some very expensive clothes. But I have been following this whole series of adds in all the August/September issues of the major fashion magazines, for several months now, and I do think the whole layout and progression of the "story line" is very interesting.
In each add, and there are a whole series of them in progression, they have the conductor in a different position in the isle, also not always all the same ladies. Of course I also like old trains, and train luggage and have old 1920's-30's more steamer wardrobe trunks too, so the whole theme of the adds sort of caught my attention right away.
After seeing several of the series, the adds do sort of strangely draw you into the story, or at least leaves me waiting to see the characters and their changing positions in the train car in the next progression add. And trying to guess or make up, the projected story line. And even starting to like the hats- just the opposite as when I first saw them, and really mostly even only because of the mysterious tone to the add and the train car setting.
Of course I think the hats are supposed to startle and draw you in, so you pay more attention to the actual clothes, but I was looking at those too, just the whole theme of it and story line and the train got more of my attention.
But, I do think someone was very good that conceived of the add theme and progression of it there, and a very well done, and very nice photography in all of them. So, maybe a very effective advertising campaign. But if no one else is intrigued by the adds and following their "story" then, maybe not.

Date: 9/1/12 2:22 AM If you think the hats are weird, I did walk by the actual front of one of the Louis Vuitton stores the other day. The whole huge front boxed window display there, was no clothes, no bags, but the whole window was jammed full and filled with red and white polka dotted Octuopus tentacle sculptures. Half of them were coming up from the flooring of the window display, and the other half of them were hanging down from the ceiling of the window display. It was pretty eye catching. |
