2 members like this. Date: 9/1/12 11:19 PM My first week I made 4 sun dresses without a pattern. This week I takled my first pattern dress. I didn't think about the number of pieces or how hard it might be. My wifw was a great help. She taught me how to layout the pieces and how to cut. I chose the dress because it looked so cute and I could picture my 3 year old grand daughter in it. what an adventure. I my wife was not there to teach me L would not have come close to pulling it of. It took me the entire week to cut, piece and sew it. But I am excited at how well it came out. I did cheat a bit. I didn't put buttons in the back I used Velcro. The dress had come out so well I didn't want to blow it. I am going to practice on some scraps this next week. I stead of a bow I made a fabric flower and added it to the waist line. It has a simple ruffle at the bottom and is 2 contrasting fabrics. I really wanted to try the other version of this dress that had a jagged hem at the bottom a Tinkerbell look. I am glad my wife talked me out of that this one stretched me to the limit. But I had fun and learned a lot. I am going to try a simpler pattern this next time and come back to this one in a few weeks.<'http://www.friendsofpr.com/Marksews.html'/> -- Edited on 9/1/12 11:20 PM -- |

Date: 9/2/12 10:14 AM You'll have a super time with the costumes. As a bonus, costumes don't have to be meticulously finished and are great projects for new challenges like jagged tinker bell hemlines. ------ I have no idea what Apple thought I was saying so be a Peach and credit anything bizarre to auto correct. |

Date: 9/3/12 1:00 PM You are making alot of progress! Did you say you were retired? Geez I wish I could sew all day-I am back to school. I think velcro is a good choice-your GD is pretty young isn't she? So velcro is easier for her. Halloween costumes? You will have fun and since they are only worn once or twice you can cut some corners. Can't wait to see them! |
