Selvedge Edge Addiction Projects created from the selvedges... amazing

Amazing, isn't it? Here was the first project I tripped over that got me hooked on wanting to do something: And then there is a whole group devoted to selvedge edge projects! FLICKR SELVEDGE EDGE GROUP So about two weeks ago, I got 11 large shopping bags (think bigger than a walmart grocery bag) full of quilting cottons... (for $60!!! what a screeeeeeaming good deal!) ... I sorted through all of them last night - until 4 AM - no joke lol - putting the ones to the side that still have their selvedge edges. Alot of the batiks didn't have any (bummer!) Here's my pile of potential: And to put it in perspective, that pile is about knee-high. Never thought of selvedge uses except for stay uses with organza, etc. Never as a decorative feature, although I always found the color palette dots fun. I would love to make a summer hat with this technique! You can also do something like this: Confetti Fabric at Instructables. Makes me want to go out and buy stuff, just to shred it and make into something pretty! LOL (Why, oh WHY am I so drawn to impractical things???)
