Date: 9/2/12 8:24 PM As I was cutting out my knit top, I realized I didn't get enough fabric for the back.
So I went back to the fabric store the next day- that bolt of fabric was gone- no one could find it in the whole store so they figured it was all sold.
I came back home and figured a way to fit all the pattern pieces on the amount of material I had. Only problem was the back of the knit top.
It had to be placed on the fold- and nothing I did would work.
So I cut out 2 pieces for the back and stitched a center seam.
My top is all made up and looks great- BUT I don't like the look of the back center seam.
It is a solid blue color in a jersey knit.
What can I do to 'hide' the seam from being so prominent? |

Date: 9/2/12 8:50 PM Lots of high end knit tops have cb seams and some add details to make them stand out. You can shape the back to fit better and if you have a sway back you need this seam to take out the wrinkles. ------ www.nancyksews.blogspot.com |

Date: 9/2/12 9:53 PM The top is lovely, and really doesn't need anything, but if you want, a row of small rhinestone, pearl, or fabric-covered buttons would look pretty. |

Date: 9/2/12 10:01 PM Hi Changma- I was thinking the same thing. But I didn't know what size- any idea?... 1/2 inch?
I've never done fabric covered buttons- is that difficult?

3 members like this. Date: 9/2/12 10:03 PM I purposely look for tops with a center back seam! The seam gives one more fitting options and I think the vertical line down the center of the back is slimming!
Your top is lovely! ------ Mary

Date: 9/2/12 10:05 PM I would use small buttons, but I haven't looked at buttons in a while, so I can't really note a size (I'm thinking kind of like the ones on the back of a wedding gown). And no, covered buttons are not difficult. -- Edited on 9/2/12 10:06 PM -- |

Date: 9/3/12 2:59 AM I like it just the way it is. If you want to make it look intentional, what about putting in an exposed zipper. ------ www.lolitapatterns.com |

Lots of tops have that. Press it flat so it doesn't cave in and you won't notice it as much either. |
