What Is This Mystery Item?

This item has been donated and they need it identified so it can be sold. It arrived with a piece of tape on it saying it was for a Singer sewing machine, however it does have Brother written on it in tiny writing underneath. The button on top can be pushed down, making the central shaft move down. Any ideas? ------ Sew Much Fabric, Sew Little Time

Nothing to do with sewing or crafting at all, unless it was used for glitter, etc. like arianamaniacs suggested.
