Someone on another craft forum is wanting a mystery item identified if possible please.
This item has been donated and they need it identified so it can be sold.
It arrived with a piece of tape on it saying it was for a Singer sewing machine, however it does have Brother written on it in tiny writing underneath.
The button on top can be pushed down, making the central shaft move down.
Any ideas?

A peppermilll that was wrongly labeled? Or maybe a home-made glitter dispensing machine?

I agree -- it looks a lot like a peppermill which is missing some of its internals.

While I agree it does look like a pepper mill, it is not one.
It has the proper Brother logo stamped very small on the bottom.

If the top thingy can be pressed down, then it must be a dispenser of some sort; beads perhaps???

A pepper mill is close... it's a Spice Dispenser.

Nothing to do with sewing or crafting at all, unless it was used for glitter, etc. like arianamaniacs suggested.

Yup, you are correct. Brother is the manufacturer, although I doubt it's the sewing machine Brother.

Brother makes lots of things besides sms-they have been in the printer business for ever. I am wondering if this was made for crafts like glitter or beads or something. Too funny. I wonder what happened to the rest of it?

And typewriters WAY before printers!
