Date: 9/4/12 11:00 PM Hi,
My parents are currently wandering down the West Coast of US and would like to check out some technical fabric stores for Goretex, Polartec etc. Any suggestions and recommendations?
Thanks in advance! ------ 24th Nov 12 to 28th Nov 13

Date: 9/4/12 11:02 PM I associate Oregon and Washington with stores like that. Seattle Fabrics, Rain Shed, etc. I live in San Francisco and have no great recommendations, though I haven't shopped for those fabrics specifically. ------ http://communingwithfabric.blogspot.com/ |

Date: 9/4/12 11:06 PM Ah! The Rain Shed! I had forgotten that one! I sent them the link to Seattle Fabrics unfortunately a little too late. Any good fabric shops in SF worth recommending? My mum is a sewer too although dad might have to find something else to do. ------ 24th Nov 12 to 28th Nov 13

Date: 9/5/12 0:51 AM There are a bunch of great fabric stores in the Portland area. Try RCT Fabrics retail store 2515 NW Nicolai Portland Oregon 97210 for technical fabrics but Fabric Depot and The Mill End are also good general stores or Josephine's drygoods for real good quality - no polartech there. |

Date: 9/5/12 9:25 AM Definitely Britex on Geary St....about 1/2 block off Union Square in San Francisco.
Lots in LA....depends on how much driving around they want to endure.
West LA (Pico) has Mood, F&S and a fun jobber I forget name right now.
Beverly Silks & Linens is the old, classic store.
Downtown has a mosh of stores....not the best quality overall but a few gems here or there. Michael Levine is the biggest. Parking is in city lots. Avoid Saturdays. |

Date: 9/6/12 3:25 AM Narain's in Berkeley is the only store in the SF Bay Area with a decent selection of tech fabric, Polartec, etc. If the parents do come to Berkeley, Stonemountain and Daughter is an all-around FABulous fabric store, and they usually have a limited selection of Polartec. ------ http://jillybejoyful.blogspot.com/
