Brother Duetta 2 vs. Dreamweaver XE What are the differences between these two machines?

I have decided on a Brother machine as it has licensed Disney designs that My son will love! There are two new Brother machines that I can't decide between - the Duetta 2 and the Dreamweaver XE. I have watched the promotional videos on both and each sounds similar except for the obvious features (ie. Dreamweaver XE: laser, pen, larger work space). Which is more expensive, what price range is 'affordable' according to the promotional video? Which one would you get and why? Thanks for all of your input everyone! -- Edited on 9/5/12 11:51 PM --

If I had to decide on one machine I would most likely choose the Dreamweaver XE. I like the features the space of the machine and the new innovations they created for this particular line of machines. That's a part of the machine you'll be using constantly. The cost is $6,000 is that an average amount or is it outrageous? And do you think it's a good idea. I haven't bought it yet. I have never bought a good sewing machine. So this is a twofold investment.

Is that price it retails for or is it a sales price? I think brother makes excellent machines. Especially when it comes to embroidery. I'm yet to own a brother embroidery machine, don't know if I will, but I have heard fantastic things on how intuitive and user friendly it is. And I tell you the embroidery designs that comes with a Brother embroidery machine is phenomenal. Date: 9/13/12 0:40 AM Have you checked out the Brother Quattro 2? That is the top of the line sewing/embroidery machine combo and I know some people are getting their machines for around $7k. I paid somewhat less than that for my Ellisimo Gold (Brother equivalent) and I also received the inspirational guidebook for free. Given that you're being quoted $6k, if you can stretch your budget a little bit more, than either of these machines is worth looking at. Naturally, this will probably depend on where you live and how many dealers are around, but again, it's worth a look. The machines are somewhat similar, but the biggest feature in the Ellisimo/Quattro is the needlecam. There is a built in camera that helps you position your needle in the correct spot while embroidering. It makes hooping MUCH easier for the beginner. Plus there are tons and tons of other features on these machines as well. Other features on the Elllisimo/Quattro would be the larger touch screen, a pen tablet that allows you to draw your designs and embroider them, onscreen video tutorials. There are lots of videos online about these machines. I know there is a promotion going on for the Ellisimo Gold that includes a really great software program and Babylock is also currently offering a no interest 48-month payment plan. This year I finally had some money and initially wanted to spend around $3,000. But then I saw the Dreammaker and it was $4,000 so I was okay with that but over a few weeks passed after trying out the Dreamweaver XE and since I also needed a new sewing machine we decided instead of buying two different machines (embroidery for $4,000 and a sewing for $1,000) and taking up space I didnt have that paying $6,000 was the most I could go. I negotiated with the store who initially wanted $6,500 down to $6,000 and he let me make payments with no financing necessary. I am happy and I will be receiving my machine in 2 weeks. Probably more than you wanted to hear...
