I would really like to see and touch a 750, but they only have the 780 for a short time. And to just add some magic to the evening, I put a deposit down for the 830LE! Oh my!! ------ Bernina 830LE

Would love the hear why you chose the 830LE. What did you think of the 780? |

Subject: Demod the new Bernina 780 Date: 9/6/12 10:14 PM Like I said, the 780 is BIGGER than the 830LE, except there is more space to the right of the needle on the 830LE ... hard to explain. Just big and sort of chunky looking in size. the 830LE is more svelte looking ... I chose the 830LE because I really like the looks of this machine, and I was able to sit and sew for a while. I knew that unless the 780 had a real WOW factor, I'd be going for the 830LE. No big WOW factor as far as I could see. No dissing the 780, just not the machine I was looking for. ------ Bernina 830LE

Date: 9/6/12 10:17 PM I saw the 780 today for the first time, and to me it looked bulkier than the 830. Even though the screen is crisper, it doesn't automatically thread which is a big minus when I'm embroidering and want to change threads without risking bumping the hoop. Also a big minus is that the dual feed is not adjustable, a feature I find indispensable on my 830. And I got the feeling the 780 won't cost much less than the 830. I don't get what Bernina was thinking, unless they have a bigger and better Bernina up their sleeves :) -- Edited on 9/6/12 10:23 PM -- ------ "Look at the donut, not at the hole"

Thanks for the information; I'm considering the 750 or 820; It's a shame that it doesn't automatically thread and dual feed is not adjustable with 7 Series. I feel with the price point of new Berninas they should have the above options. Decisions Decisions; I'm a quilter and it seem I have to consider embroidery to get the options that I need. You have no idea how helpful you and this site has been. Again, thank you all!! :-) |

If you don't want or need embroidery, then go for that 820.
Sylvia - congrats on your new LE!! I got an email today from my dealer. She has a floor model sale going on, which includes the LE. I will have to go by there Saturday and see what she wants for it. Just to see you know. Not like I'm coming home with one or anything.

According to the yahoo groups, the 7 series machines are about 31 lbs, and the 8 series are around 39lbs, and the footprint measurement of the 7 series is smaller. So scratching my head a bit here.... ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |
