Kenneth Branaugh is back as Wallander starting Sunday on PBS!
I saw a few previous episodes and wanted more, but they aren't on Netflix Instant yet.

Since we discovered various Brit series, we are hooked and H. is grudgingly learning the Queen's English (with enhanced earphones).
US detective shows are all chases/crashes so the "Guess which suspect did it?" of these series is more intriguing. The only US clever one we like is Leverage.
Others-- The State Within, Collision miniseries, The Politician's Wife (warning-BR scenes), all off Netflix.

What I have seen in the past is that this particular subject is dark, moody and depressing. With all that, I still have it set up to record.

The series came back to memory as we were watching "The Killing", set in the Pacific Northwest. It was constantly raining. So depressing, by the end of the first season I was tempted to "kill" a few members of the cast myself!

Me, too. I loved the Inspector Morse books, and we watched the television programs, but I think the Lewis and Hathaway episodes are better than the Morse ones.

Yeah, 'Inspector Lewis'! Mystery with a tad of wit thrown in--and no need to mention genitalia by either their childish or or scientifically correct names, either. Heavens, I am so tired of that.

I thought I was the only person in the US who had ever heard of Midsomer! I love that show, and Inspector Lewis as well. They are both a nice change from the contrived drama of the shows here.

Another fan of both Morse and Lewis...and especially the dishy Lt. Hathaway.

Midsomer is all lined up in the Netflix queue, so it will arrive in due time.

Foyle's war is another very interesting British series with great characters - mystery + history.

I've not seen Midsomer nor Foyle, but just found the Midsomer pilot on Netflix, so it's ordered. Loved Morse and now Lewis & Hathaway, but I saw on the web where Lewis might be retiring . I love the relationship/wit between L&H. Lewis seems to be getting a bit grouchy lately
