I am interested in a automatic way to cut out many delicate shapes and need the shapes to be precise. I am considering purchasing this machine for that purpose. I own a Viking Designer SE and have the "Cut Work Needle Kit" Have you had any experience with either of these two products? What have you learned about them?

The cameo is very similar to the cutter I use for cutting garment vinyl (which is then applied with a heat press). You would use a "carrier sheet" for your fabric -- it's a heavy card stock with sticky on it to hold the fabric in place. If you're cutting very thin fabric, it may be challenging to get the pieces off without tearing or distorting them.

I've never tried to cut fabric with mine...just vinyl, and card stock, but I can only imagine that you would need for your blade to be very sharp, which may mean replacing the blade more often. Oh...I see the blades aren't as expensive as they used to be...still, it's something to consider.

I'm following this thread with great interest....

I was thinking of getting a cameo for making crystal templates.

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

If you go to Apparel Decorators Forum you can find a good deal of info on that use for the cutter. There is a member there called MonkeyMe who posts some great info on this in the rhinestone applications section.
