Date: 9/9/12 11:45 AM I have been offered a vintage 1960's Nelco R1000 sewing machine, Have it in my possession, have threaded it, assuming correctly. Only sews zigzag, but may need a tune up and cleaning. Need to know how to wind bobbin, what kind of attachments there are and what the levers / knobs are for and how to adjust. Hoping to know more before accepting the sewing machine and spending $$$ on manual and tune up/repairs ------ Just sew in love! |

I hope you find out more about your sm. ------ Six Elna Lotus/Stella sm [kid's sewing classes]

Date: 9/9/12 11:59 AM does this look like the machine? click on nelco r1000 there's a picture there of the machine.
they have a manual nelco r1000
Usualy with these machine the bobbin winding is on the front over buy the wheel. If your looking at the picture it is up close to the main driving wheel and you put the bobbin on there and push down and losen the wheel to just drive the bobbin winder not the whole machine.
It probley need a lot of cleaning.
Have fun with the machine. -- Edited on 9/9/12 12:02 PM -- ------ Galatians 5:22-23 The Spirit produces love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, humility, and self-control. There is no law against such things as these |

Date: 9/13/12 8:30 AM Thanks for the replies. Update Took sm to my tech (Dr. for my Elna AE SU) and turns out with some wiggling of the knobs etc., everything works fine. No cost. He said no need for cleaning or tuneup + I can beat it up all I want and wont hurt it. Can't wait to put it thru the test! BTW anyone know where to get the membrane part replacement for my Elna AE SU? Tech says he can't locate since no longer mfg part.
Thanks again!
