I need to free motion quilt 2 quilts for Christmas so I am practicing FMQ. I started quilting 4 years ago but have only done 6 "Quilt as You Go" quilts. Although they are lovely I yearn to do FMQ. I made this runner and used several different patterns to quilt. Although far from perfect, I am very happy with my progress.

I have posted close up pics on my blog.

At first I thought this was echo quilting but then noticed it's not! Great job!

I'm impressed. Nicely done.

Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.

Looks great!

I've got a quilt I'm just starting to practice on.

I put mine aside until my new table shows up on Tuesday. (I ordered the Gidget 2 - that acrylic extension table is supposed to work well with our machines on that table.)

My machine is currently set up on my high (counter height - with bar stool like chairs) dining room table... and it's just not comfy for long periods of time. So I'm hoping to get more comfy and get into this FMQ'ing!

These machines are great for this, aren't they?

On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.

My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

Wonderful job! I, too, am doing an autumn table runner that I plan to practice FMQ'ing on. What pattern did you use, I really like it.

Looks really nice! I just started a quilt and have never done FMQ before. I'm going to try it on this one, but I'll get some practice in first on some extra squares.

You are so right - I had no luck with FMQ until I got the Elna 740. I have mine on a 4 foot table and have an adjustable office chair that keeps me at the right height. I keep looking at the Gidget 2 but it is still on my wish list. Do you use your Elna Press alot?

Yep I am sure FMQ on a quilt is going to be harder than on a runner just due to the size but I am so excited to give it a try. My quilts will not be ready to quilt probably until September or October but I will keep you posted on my progress.

I love it! You did a great job, and I love the pattern too.

I am also new to FMQ. I used to hate it, then I got a teflon liner and it makes it much easier for me.
