Date: 9/9/12 9:04 PM Used to be it was obvious when a seam allowance was already added to the pattern, there would be a dashed line that indicated the sewing line. With the Disney tangled pattern there was no such line, yet they didn't tell you to add a seam allowance. Am I suppose to add 5/8" along the outside of the pattern? I know a lot of you out there have made this pattern, please help.
Thank you,

Date: 9/9/12 9:28 PM In the directions, there should be instructions that tell you to stitch 5/8" seams unless otherwise stated. It will state otherwise on the pattern, along a hemline or some such. I've never seen a Simplicity that didn't have the seam allowances already on it. |

Subject: Tangled with simp w/2065 Date: 9/9/12 10:49 PM I second Rhey's comments. All the Simplicity patterns that I've used has seam allowances already in the pattern. On occasion where the seam allowance is not 5/8", it is usually noted in the pattern and/or instructions. Good luck I'm starting Halloween costumes, too. ------ www.lolitapatterns.com |

Date: 9/9/12 10:50 PM I don't think they put those dashed lines on at all anymore, do they? ------ my shield and my very great reward (Gen. 15:1)

Date: 9/9/12 10:56 PM Certainly not on multi-sized patterns, can you imagine the mess that would make?
I think they were more popular when patterns were sold one size to an envelope. |

Subject: Tangled with simp w/2065 Date: 9/9/12 11:21 PM Simplicity's "Tangled" pattern does have the 5/8" seam allowance unless the instructions tell you differently. I don't recall there bveing any other allowance used.
As others have indicated, it would be hard to show a seam allowance on a multi-sized pattern.

Date: 9/10/12 0:08 AM Thank you all, I will go ahead and cut with abandon. It's not necessarily a Halloween costume, I just wanted to make my 3 yr. old great niece a "Princess" dress.
