Date: 9/13/12 11:59 AM Is this a reputable site? Just want to make sure I won't get any computer viruses or paypal hacking if I place an order.
Do you know about the quality of the designs?
thanks. |

Date: 9/13/12 1:21 PM I think the .ru extension indicates that the site server is in Russia? I usually block sites with the .ru extension from accessing my site because of spam. I could be soooooooo wrong about this, but you might want to check that out. |

1 member likes this. Date: 9/13/12 2:50 PM They are located in Russia and for us in the US to buy the Disney designs it is a copyright violation so order at your own risk. I don't do business with any companies outside the US. With the exception of Embird. -- Edited on 9/13/12 2:50 PM -- ------ quiltingwolf.blogspot.com |

Date: 9/15/12 1:16 PM They used to have some free designs, but their stuff has a tendency to be bulletproof. I buy from Hatched in Africa and Embird (both of whom are non U.S. companies), but only use paypal. I never buy from Russia. They are the wild wild west of internet crooks.

Date: 9/15/12 5:50 PM I only buy designs from known, reputable digitizing companies.
Viruses can come into a computer and/or sewing machine from infected designs.
If you give it a try, definitely let us know how it goes. |

Sorry, but being a German (outside of the US ...) I already had some problems with quiltingwolf's statement about not making business with non-US companies. But I think now it's necessary to raise my voice:
There is NO way, an embroidery design can be infected by a computer virus! You can infect your computer in various ways, with trojans, viruses, and other malware: For example by opening files which are causing code to be executed: screen savers, Office docs with macros, executables, even by visiting suspicious web sites ... embroidery files are pure data files, they don't hold code a computer can execute, and even if someone would hide an executable inside a design file e. g. by renaming an executable: The software to open this design would not execute the hidden code.
Of course purchasing / downloading files from suspicious sources is always a risk, and your computer may be infected one way or the other ... but not by a design file.
Best is to have a virus protection installed and up-to-date, and most important: Think before you click!

Date: 9/15/12 9:17 PM Thank you for your post, StitchBuddy, because this is good information for us to know.
I buy from Hatched in Africa (South Africa) so am not afraid to purchase from outside the U.S. Likewise, there are some "inside" the U.S. designs that I avoid because I do not know anything about the digitizer or their reputation. Better safe than sorry. |

Date: 9/16/12 10:28 AM I wasn't the one who said about viruses. Also Disney designs are legal here except if you have a Brother machine. Also about doing business with counties overseas I just heard too many horror stories about credit card theft etc. I wasn't saying all European companies were bad. But why buy something overseas I can get right here?
