I signed up for a beginners machine quilting class

It is a 3 hour class on Oct 4th. I took a few pictures of the project so I had something to look at and remember what she will be teaching. The class is limited to 8 students and I am the 2nd signed up. example 1 example 2 This should be a lot of fun to learn. The project is a 28 x28 sandwich. The owner of the store said the teacher likes to use a solid color for the front and the back, with batting in the middle. I seem to remember she also said to make sure the backing fabric is longer/wider than the top, bacause I think it will wrap around the outside and form a binding. I'm not so sure about this part. The reason for choosing light fabric is so I can see the stitches I am making. The sample is a fall colored med warm brown on the front. The back is a solid light beige. I will choose something easy to see the stitches on the front and back and in colors I want to look at. The thread will be darker so I can see the stitches well. I am not sure of the colors I want for mine yet. I know my fabric will not have a distinct pattern on it. Maybe very faint streaks of light color on a slightly darker background. No circles, dots or other things that can distract from my seeing the patterns I am making. I think this is going to be a lot of fun taking this class. I will be taking my Bernina 630 for this class. I wish the class was sooner, but I can handle it being in 3 more weeks. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors. Mine is still my machine cover and sometimes I use it whenever I want to practice on a particular motif and don't feel like making a sample sandwich... Are they going to cover Stitch in Ditch? I'm not so sure about this part. The main reason the backing is larger than the quilt top is to give you something to hold on to while you are quilting close to the edges. I usually have my batting a bit larger than the top, also, but not as large as the back so I can make sure the back isn't tucked under and caught in the quilting. Yes, this has happened to me. I over did the quilt work 2 weeks ago. I did the border areas and held my shoulders really tight. I will make sure I never do that again. I had my LMP really work on the muscles today. I want to take the class and I have to be ready physically for it. Mentally, I am ready for it to be tomorrow. I will take my 630. I am going to buy a new trolley for it. My current trolley is just too small for my new Bernina. This means I will be at the dealer and I might have to buy more feet. Or better yet, order a couple of rows for my Barbie Box to store more feet. ------ Quilting is relaxing to me. I love to play with fabrics, patterns and colors.
