Date: 9/18/12 7:50 AM I have a Bernina 1150mda which I love however when I was using the two thread rolled hem stitches where not forming consistently. I was using 40wt embroidery rayon. changed the tension to a 3 (because I was experiencing breakage due to cheap thread). but nothing changed. I was using the 2 thread converter the way it should be but I have a feeling the design of the thread converter is causing the issue.
I will post a pic on how it looks like. But to indicate on the shape of the wire... it looks totally different. It's an S shap with a tail with the ball point which plugs into the upper looper, Hope this makes sense if not I will post a picture . ------ Janome 300E

Date: 9/18/12 1:44 PM I have the Juki MO734de, which is pretty much like your Bernina. I have used the gizmo to convert to 2 thread rolled hem and it worked beautifully. I think the fact that your thread broke so often and it prompted you to lower the tension is the problem. If the tension is not tight enough you are going to get inconsistencies.I think the solution is not the converter but the loose tension. Try another thread and see what happens. |

Date: 9/19/12 10:14 AM I agree with Rosesews - start again with fresh threading and normal tension. I have a Benina 800DL with an upper looper converter just like you describe. I use it constantly hemming chiffon ballgown hems etc...and I only change the tensions if I can't get a good 2 thread rolled hem on the fabric by my normal checklist which is: 1. cutting width = 1-2 2. stitch length = 1- 2 3. Differential feed about N or just under for sheers / delicate fabrics 4. rolled hem switch engaged. Practice on a similar fabric and tweak / re- test these settings ONE AT A TIME until you get what you want. Memorize or write down what you have tried so you don't get confused. Take your TIME. Sew SLOWLY and Have FUN!!! This is for pleasure remember! |
