Motivated to finish some UFOs... Need a push...

I have this pesky M-F job, which right now is working overtime. It's so easy to plop on the couch after dinner and veg. I have become addicted to Nonograms, but they are an escapist waste of time... I have a perfectly good Ott light in my living room (one of the decorative ones) so have no real excuse for not sitting there doing hand work. I have several things I could be working on, including the binding for a Christmas quilt that is only waiting for half of it to be hand-sewn to the back. So I need a deadline. I will finish that quilt by Christmas. There I said it, you heard it. Hold me to it. Pester me about it. Cajole me. Needle me. Then when that is done, I will work on the hand work for my Craftsy Stupendous Stitching project which has been hanging on the back of my sofa for a couple of months with the hand work 20% done... Pester me. Do not let up! I will revert to nonograms at the earliest opportunity if you let me. I also need to clear a space in the living room to set up my SewEzi that DH got me for my Featherweight. I could sit there and piece during Saturday football, which is why DH bought me that table for me in the first place... So what about you? What UFOs are nagging at you? I've been working at that one for two years. I know the after dinner feeling. By the time I get home from work and do dinner, laundry, general cleaning I'm done. All I'm good for is TV. I'm working on getting a machine downstairs in computer room thinking that might help me as then I will have my tv and stereo back (computer) and might be more able to push myself and not feel so away from the family and vice versa. Not sure what I am going to do with them? A few I might finish but not all. One vest is 95% finished but looks really bad on my body. Maybe I can turn that fabric into a purse? ------ Ada

I had never heard of nonograms before. Is it not bad enough that I waste half of my life on sudoku, online solitaire (at which I cheat) and online mah jongg (ditto)? All I need is nonograms. I will not have time to pester you as I will be too busy at nongrams and the rest of them. ------ Barb

I actually dug out the Santa wall hanging last night and worked on the binding. I am a little embarrassed to admit the hand sewing was about 80% done (and has been for several years) but I made good progress on it last night. One or two more evenings like last night and it will be done. My quilting was better then! I haven't been doing it as much the past couple of years and am out of practice. Ends of fingers are sore today, though, I need to look into getting a thimble. I have a couple of metal ones, but find them awkward. Especially if I love the fabric. Well, okay, I love all fabric so hardly ever throw away a dud project. One of the fun things about art quilts and mixed media is finding a use for bits that would otherwise get thrown away. Fortunately I don't have time to be prolific enough for the bits to take over. This weekend, I will be switching my sewing/guest room to my daughter's room and vice versa. It's a great process--helps me to organize and whittle down some stash. I think time is a great deterent for me to finish a project and I can lose interest if I am not able to sit down for a big block of time or if the item is not a SWAP piece. I don't think I need conjoling--just need to sharpen time management skills!

Of course, I still need to whip stitch down the bottom of the sleeve. I'm never adding a sleeve on this small of a quilt again. I added the sleeve before I learned of alternate methods (may give you an idea how long ago I quilted this project) like corner pockets great corner pocket tutorial here or Hang Ups Quilt Hangers. After I finish the sleeve I'll give it a good steaming (you can imagine the fold marks ) and post a picture. ------ Tess On threadpainting flowers: "How many colors are in a flower? ... I do make small quiltlets to give as presents sometimes, and up until now I have made little sleeves and used a chop stick to hang it, but I am going to try those pockets.
