Date: 9/22/12 10:29 AM Will the new line have any qualities of the Necchis of the past, anything about them that will be unique to Necchi, or is the name Necchi just getting applied to existing Janome models? ------ 🌸 Plenty of machines, mostly Berninas 🌸 |

Date: 9/22/12 12:43 PM All the Necchis in the past few years have been made by Janome. It's nice to see they are still intent on keeping the name alive with new models. I don't know why they ask so much more for them, though. |

Date: 9/22/12 12:48 PM I thought Necchi was made by Toyota. Hey! Don't knock the Keiretsu.

I heard about the Necchi coming out. I was told it was a lower priced range of machines. No embroidery - and IIRC, there wouldn't be anything over $1,000 or so.
If they reincarnated the Lydia, I'd want one. ------ nightowlsally.com
On my radar someday: Babylock Serger, and some machine for travel.
My dearest wish is to have Bernina come out with a machine that doesn't give me a reason to *not* buy it.

Date: 9/22/12 1:11 PM Necchis haven't been gone. But the name is owned by someone, and the machines have been variously and at the same time built by Janome, Toyota, etc. On European Necchi sites, you can see them sometimes. The US distributor's website isn't at all good, nor has there been a machines line up there for awhile. The US distributor is supposed to be Allyn International and there is not one thing going on there. My sewing guy sells them, or at least did, and the machines are quite well built, and seem to have been Janome made all alone as far as his line up of them. I keep meaning to go see if he still has them, just for interest sake.

Date: 9/22/12 1:20 PM It's interesting how they have a picture of an Elna eXcellence 740 and simply changed out the Elna name with Necchi!

and then you have this, which is the same as a Singer Superb:

Date: 9/22/12 1:32 PM And goes to show you it's all about marketing and dealer contracts.
IIRC, the Necchi's might be able to be sold over the internet.
If this is true, then there is the reason that the Necchi equivalent of the Elna 740 might only be sold in other countries. (Because the Elna dealers are prohibited from shipping machines)
