I used to have a black cashmere cardigan that I loved and wore everywhere with everything, and then sadly left on a plane. I have other cardi's but I miss that one a lot. Does anyone know if it's possible to buy cashmere sweater knit fabric? I know how to knit, but honestly I'd rather sew up a sweater knit or if that's not possible, I'll buy a replacment.

I've seen lots of cashmere suiting, but I'm looking for a knit. Anyone??

I know what you mean. I'm kind of on perpetual hunt for this wonderful, incredibly useful and durable fabric. I could make soooo many fine things of it, but alas, it's next to impossible to find. Quite a few years ago, fabricmart.com had some lightweight black cashmere knit. Right now, Mood Fabrics online has it in just two colors, lavender and beige, at a fairly reasonably $60/yd.

I haven't found any other source.

Ohh thanks Elona, for 64" wide, that's not really too bad. I know as long as I don't botch the sewing of it, I would wear any resulting garment to death (or to leaving it on a plane).

I might give them a call tomorrow and see if they stock any in the LA store where I could go and actually give it a feel.

If you are near the LA store, by all means go in and fondle the fabrics. They have a LOT more in the shop than appears on the website. If you aren't near the store, ask for samples, again because they have more than you think, and in the same bin, there will be several variants of color and weight.
