Resources for learning how to reupholster a chair

I bought the John French instructional DVD's which are very good! DIYslipcovers.com The amount of money one can save doing ones own work makes it a worthwhile project. In addition we have had many excellent discussions on PR. I'm sure it would have lots of great info if you could find it.

I am sorry I can't even remember if it was in misc...or in home dec .. but it was a very good thread.. all modesty aside. LOTS of info.. and lots of pics .... If the OP wants to recover a lazyboy.. she most likely is thinking about an entire reupholstery job.. not slipcovers.. Now all who know me know IMHO upholstery is easier then slipcovers.. Lots of You tube videos.. lots of other info on other searches.. to me.. like the tapes threaddy posted about.. pics are worth a thousand words.. or videos are worth a million bucks. PLEASE Feel free to ask any specific questions that you may need to.. sometimes a question will come up that you just can't find the answer for, as sometimes these videos etc assume you know a bit more than you do..

I've been thinking that this winter I will reupholster a loveseat and two modified wingback chairs of which I am quite fond, but which need new life. I have bookmarked the old topic. A quick scan through tells me that between that and a couple books on the subject, I should be able to handle my project. And, if I hit a snag, I know who to ask for help! They may offer upholstery courses. I took a course years ago at a community college to redo a chair and I learned very quickly why it is so expensive to have someone redo furniture! The college (in Jacksonville, FL) had all the industrial machines and the teacher did beautiful work himself and ended up reupholstering a sectional sofa for us (his prices were less than a regular shop) and the pattern matching was impeccable. The students in the class were all familiar with each other and I think they just kept resigning for the course and did furniture for their families after doing their own furniture. It was a fun community of people. One woman would rescue baby squirrels and keep them in a little pouch that was nestled in her bosom and every so often they would crawl out and take a peek--she would kiss their head and tuck them back in--too funny! Please excuse any spelling/grammar errors--still having 1st cup of coffee
