I saw this on someone else's thread here and have fallen in love with it! I didn't see patterns though... I would love to find this pattern or something very similar; I want to try to make something like this: Harvey Berin 1950s gown, but with a bit of a v in the neckline (notch or slightly sweetheart)... and make the grey ribbon bit blue...

There will be swing dancing at the reception... :-)

This Simplicity had the basic shape including the neckline-view d- you're looking for. You'd have to add the lace bits though.

Any ideas on a jacket to go with? Wedding is in September a year from now... so the temperature can vary...

I think a cardi or a shrug--something very fine gauge knit--to keep the soft look. You could probably go with RTW, and then choose your ribbon color for the skirt to match or coordinate with that. (That would end up looking very "sweet," though, so keep that in mind! :))

Definitely don't want it too "sweet" - I'll be 43 by that time! Hmmm.... lots to consider. So confusing... and now I wonder if it will even be ok because fiancÚ had his heart set on a tux...

Wait--is this for YOUR wedding? That will make a big difference!!

Hmmm... lots of ways you could go then... Maybe a lace bolero (there's an interesting one in the November Burda preview thread; it opens in the back!), or a crisp satin jacket or stole...

Yes, my own wedding. Now I am concerned that it's too young. Not that I need to look stodgy...

I will look at satin stoles/jackets...

Thanks so much!

*chuckle* I'm knocking off this dress, too! But I'm using Simplicity 2400 as a base - shortening it, flaring it from the waist, and turning the sweetheart neckline into a straight one. I'm also taking out the accent ribbon from the original, it's not really my style. I'm going to get a knowledgeable friend to help me add shoulders/sleeves to the pattern for the lace part. It's been quite a bit of work, but I have a first muslin now! (Except I added waaaay too much into the bust, sigh.)

I saw the aforementioned Simplicity 4070 when I was looking for patterns, but that has a waist seam, and I wanted princess seams that go all the way down, as per the original.

oooh, dragon, are you posting anywhere as you go? I didn't catch that 4070 had a waist seam. Please let me know how it is going... :-) (And maybe it was your post I first saw it in?)
