Sewing at home as a business Can't find thread

Given the area in which we live, the biology thing isn't going to happen. I do have my own photography business and work trickles in through that but just not enough to make me happy. I am considering posting on Craigslist that I'd do alterations and see what happens. I was talking to a seamstress last night -she is retired and does periodic work for a local theater- and she said she has a friend who gets more alteration work than she can handle. I know there have been numerous threads about this but I can't find them using the PR search. Anyone have any advice to offer? Is this a losing deal? Or a convenient way to make a little money while working from home?

The forum is very helpful; lots of people who do nothing but business work and who know everything there is to know.
