I just saw this documentary at our local Film Fest. It is about the Extreme Mustang Makeover Challenge where 100 people have 100 days to take a totally wild Mustang gathered from BLM lands and train the horse. There is then a competition to see who did the best job. It is probably one of the best films I have ever seen (as I love horses to distraction but have never been able to fulfill that passion) I generally hate animal movies because they are usually so sad...but this one is NOT!!! It is a testament to humans and our fabulous ability to bond with horses/ and they with us. If it is playing anywhere near you PLEASE go see it!!! It is a limited release film unfortunately. Why oh why was this not an academy award possibility!!! The film director was at our showing and she said they will be releasing the DVD December 4...but it is so incredible on the big screen!!!
The competition is for the purpose to show that a wild horse is not a throw away horse....they are just diamonds in the rough.

The name of the film is Wild Horse Wild Ride

I've not seen the film but my sister had a wild mustang that she purchased for a lot less than a regular horse. She had it saddle broke, had it halter and bridle trained, then lost her job and she couldn't keep it--boarding fees and all. She really loved that horse! Tawny gold, it was.

Well if you can't see it on the big screen then go to Amazon and get the DVD....you can pre-order now for release Dec 4. It so accurately portrays, with such care, the incredible bond between horse and human. Watch it first and see if it is a film your sister should see. Two young men in the film so wanted to keep their horses but there was no way they could afford it. As we all know it is not just the cost of the horse but the care day to day. Fortunately their horses were adopted by people who lived nearby so I think they were able to stay involved. in fact this ended up in all the cases...either the trainer took their horse home or the horse was purchased by someone nearby and to excellent homes. Thus the ending was happy in all cases. Plus it is for such a good cause...showing how incredible these "wild" horses are.
